Senator Mark Warner Visits Cvent for Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrating Office Expansion

Friday, April 1, 2011 by
Today, Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) visited the Cvent headquarters in McLean, VA to celebrate the expansion of our office headquarters. The new space will accommodate the 190 new employees Cvent plans to hire in 2011, and features a spacious new kitchen, additional conference rooms, and better views of the surrounding Northern Virginia landscape (we're pretty excited about it, if you couldn't tell!).  Sen. Warner's speech this afternoon focused on how businesses such as Cvent have contributed to the economic recovery in the U.S., and he stressed how technological innovation across the country has helped pave the road to full recovery. Innovation will continue to create jobs and help the United States stay competitive in the global economy; in March alone, the U.S. economy added 216,000 jobs.

In addition to sharing his own life experiences as a successful entrepreneur, former Governor of Virginia, and current United States Senator, before leaving our offices, Sen. Warner left us with three keys to success:
  1. Don’t be afraid of failure
  2. Be open to new and different ideas (even if they are from your opponents!)
  3. Be an agent for change by taking a stand on political issues and understanding who your elected officials are. Whether we like it or not, they impact our lives.
In my opinion, the biggest key takeaway for our meeting planner audience is that across the globe, technology is changing the way we do business, and businesses ultimately drive government and policy. So, think of your adoption of event technology not just as a service to yourself and your meeting attendees, but as a way you're driving change and contributing to the world economy by investing in innovative technologies. Makes you feel pretty powerful, huh?
