Delta Air Lines plans to restart its discounted fares program for travel buyers planning meetings and events. The airline, which discontinued its "meeting fares" program in 2005, recently acquired Northwest Airlines, which had a policy for meetings.
Northwest's policy offered travel buyers five to seven percent off tickets for meeting-goers. Planners could then offer these fares to attendees, no matter what city they were traveling from.
Meeting planners involved with Minneapolis events can certainly breathe a sigh of relief with this news. Eagan-based Northwest's fare plan was frequently used for events in the Twin Cities.
