I've blogged about declines in the overall performance by the tradeshow industry in the past. However, it's not all bad news, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) annual CEIR Index report.
Although the exhibition industry saw declines in Q1 and Q2 year-over-year as compared to 2008, this year's Q2 numbers reported a modest increase over Q1. Overall performance dropped 10.9 percent in the second quarter this year, compared to last year, but saw 0.7 percent increase when compared to the first quarter of the year, according to the report.
Broken down, the second quarter of 2009 saw a 10.1 percent decrease in net square footage, a 16.9 percent decline in revenue, a 12.8 percent in the number of exhibiting companies, and a 3.8 percent decline in professional attendance.
