It looks like the 80th Major League Baseball All-Star Game is giving St. Louis meeting hotels a boost. According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the Millennium Hotel St. Louis is at 96 percent capacity thanks to guests in town to see the game. Meanwhile, the Drury Plaza Hotel is sold out five of seven days for the game week.
Much of this business is group-oriented. ESPN and the Secret Service, for example, have booked space at the Millennium.
The rise in occupancy at downtown meeting venues has also benefited hotels located further afield, as transient and local business groups not in town for the game look to find available space. The Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, located further west of downtown, for example, is reaching 90 percent to full, according to General Manager Al Sedlacek.
