AIG Advisor Group CEO Remains Enthusiastic About Meetings

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 by Cvent Staff
In light of all the recent meeting cancellations by big companies, you may think that executives are losing faith in meetings. Not so. In fact, Larry Roth, president and CEO of the AIG Advisor Group, says he and his team remain "absolutely enthusiastic about meetings."

The AIG Advisor Group, Roth said, has canceled half of its events in terms of numbers and roughly three-quarters of its events in terms of budget. The group's parent company, AIG International, made headlines last fall by canceling 160 meetings and events including the much talked about event at the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach.

Still, Roth is quick to recognize the importance of meetings to his group.

"Meetings are a cost-effective part of our business," he said, according to a recent MeetingsNet article. It's important for meeting planners to remind management of the importance of meetings, Roth said, because your competitors are still out there hosting meetings and events.
