I recently caught a great news story on CNBC about Texas Roadhouse. Standing up to all the public scrutiny on meetings and events, the full-service restaurant chain bucked the meeting cancellation trend and held a five-day event in San Francisco in early April. About 1,000 people, from managing partners to bartenders, attended the event, held at The Fairmont and Ritz-Carlton hotels in San Francisco. Event activities included a concert, street party, meetings and even a day of service.
Texas Roadhouse CEO G.J. Hart explained the philosophy behind going ahead with the event as simply: "You've got to give a little to get a lot."
"We're all about our people and our culture, and our people are the biggest asset that we've got," Hart said. "This investment in our people will yield us great returns. We have a philosophy in our company that if we take care of our people they'll take care of our guests. That's why this event is important in times like this."
