Keep America Meeting Campaign

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 by Cvent Staff
The Meeting, Event, and Incentive Coalition is not the only example of representatives in the meetings industry standing up in defense of meetings. A partnership of the U.S. Travel Association and TBA Global, with support from the Event Marketing Institute, the Keep America Meeting campaign aims to draw attention to the important role meetings play in building a successful business.

The campaign also plans to stress the beneficial effect meetings have on the economy. According to the U.S. Travel Association, meetings and events create nearly $40 billion in tax revenue. Without the jobs created by the industry, the current unemployment rate of 7.6 percent would rise to 8.2 percent.

Endorsed by media such as MeetingsNet and Northstar Travel Media LLC and organizations including the Society of Incentive Travel Executives and the Society of Independent Show Organizers, Keep America Meeting has created an online petition for supporters to sign. By signing, you lend your support and send a message to legislators that they need to support the industry in order to help the U.S. economy. The campaign hopes to get one million electronic signatures on the petition, which will be sent to the White House, every members of Congress, and Fortune 200 business leaders.
