Such a location exists at the National Museum of American History, which re-opened today after a two-year, $85 million renovation that brought striking new architectural features and revamped galleries and exhibitions. U.S. President George W. Bush and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell were among those gathered to celebrate the re-opening of the museum, where guests can enjoy three million artifacts of cultural, social, technological and political history of the United States.

Overall, the museum the National Museum of American History can host up to 3,500 people for receptions and up to 500 people for seated dinners. Groups of all sizes can enjoy dinners, galas and black-tie affairs among rare treasures such as the Star-Spangled Banner, Thomas Jefferson's writing desk and the uniform worn by George Washington. Sip cocktails next to the first car driven across the United States or 15 stunning gowns worn by First Ladies from Martha Washington to Laura Bush.

Or, invite attendees to enjoy an elegant luncheon or other daytime event at the 5th floor roof terrace. Here, up to 350 people can enjoy unparalleled views of the Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial.

The museum has a special events policy that permits groups and organizations to make unrestricted contributions that will support the work of the museum. In celebration of these gifts, organizations can co-host an event in its spacious, unique facilities.
