A few nights ago, I had a horrible nightmare. In my dream, I arrived at the resort only to discover that, instead of being assigned rooms, guests were each given a table in the main dining room. Naturally, they were really upset and it took a long time to sort things out.
In real life, this would never happen but sometimes our nightmares that seem real are important reminders. I interpreted this particular dream as a reminder to cover the basics:
Gather Information Through the Cvent Supplier Network
The venue profiles are quite detailed and they can give you an idea of the types of facilities and amenities available at the property you are considering.
Leverage FAM Trips and Trade Shows
Do your homework and if a familiarization trip is coming up to the destination, contact the organizers and see if you can join it. The tourism board or convention bureau will know about or even sponsor major FAM trips; you can also check the Cvent's new Promotions Hub for FAM trip offers and more.
Reference checks are underutilized in our industry. A couple of phone calls to recent clients who have stayed at the resort can be fruitful if you ask the right questions.
