A few nights ago, I had the pleasure of seeing the dinner that I had been planning for one of my company's clients finally take shape. The beautiful beach setting reminded me that, when you want to dial up the wow factor for your last night at a tropical destination, there is nothing like ending a retreat or an incentive trip with an event on the beach. Fortunately, it's possible to do this all over the world.
The Beach Club by Le Cirque (Dominican Republic)
You're probably familiar with Le Cirque, the world-famous Manhattan restaurant. La Cirque has worked its magic with a venue right on Minatas Beach at Casa de Campos.
With a total capacity of 166, groups can privatize the restaurant or use one of the 3 gazebos right on the beach. For my client, we used 2 gazebos and comfortably accommodated 32 guests.
We selected a delicious menu consisting of a Lobster salad, Beef Filet and the Dominican Republic's signature Tres Leches Chocolate Cake. Strolling musicians played bachata, merengue and traditional local favorites.
For my second beachfront stunner I'll have to travel to the other side of the world to find Captain's at Jebel Ali Resort & Spa. Captain's captured a tropical Caribbean ambiance so well that, except for the shisha tents (pictured to the right), it's easy to forget that you are in the Middle East. With a capacity of 55, Captain's is perfect for small groups.
Coast Restaurant and Bar (Malaysian Borneo)
The 3 thatched-roof gazebos at Coast Restaurant and Bar provide an enchanting setting in Kota Kinabalu that your guests will not soon forget. Groups can also dine on the terrace overlooking the beach. The restaurant specializes in seafood complimented by fresh vegetables and herbs from the Culinary Garden of Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort where the venue is located.
