On MPI's Smart Monday, IMEX America attendees and hosted buyers who arrived early were treated to a behind the scenes lunch with members of Blue Man Group's Las Vegas cast and crew at the Venetian Hotel. The lunch was a real eye opener. Not only does Blue Man Group have a regular schedule of public performances in Las Vegas, New York, Boston and Chicago, it is also an excellent choice for event planners in search of a unique alternative for corporate events and conferences. Group rates are available and, for large groups, buyouts or special matinee performances are possible.
The performance can be customizes for team events or client appreciation incentives. Logos can be incorporated into signage and some elements of the set.
At the end of the lunch, everyone in attendance was given as surprise gift, a complimentary ticket to a Blue Man Group performance. Last night, when I attended a public performance, the audience was immediately engaged with marquees sending out birthday greetings and even giving recognition to an Olympic gold medalist who was attending the performance. It generated a great deal of excitement in the crowd. VIPs and top-tier clients can receive similar acknowledgment.
The performance began with the sounds of drums. Drummers appeared in silhouette on the curtains. When the curtains came up, there was a dazzling light show and the blue men were revealed. The performance had elements of play, improvisation, clown and mask work similar to what one finds in Japanese Noh theater or the work Paris' Jacques Lecoq. The music, unique instruments, animation, and special lighting effects, created a joyful and highly interactive experience that engaged the audience from start to finish. Audience members were selected to come up on stage for some of the improvisational work.
Blue Man Group wowed IMEX America participants and it is sure to be a hit for corporate and special events.
