7 Cool Caribbean Events to Beat Cabin Fever

Caribbean EventsAs mid-February approaches and cabin fever sets in, thoughts of warmer destinations take hold. It's the heart of Caribbean carnival season and there are many other events appropriate for corporate groups with varied interests.

US Virgin Islands

St. Maarten Heineken

  • St. Maarten Heineken Regatta
    From March 6 - 9th, the 34 annual St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, in which over 100 boats participate, will take place.

Jamaica

  • Polo JamaicaAll Jamaica Polo Tournament
    Hosted by the Kingston Polo Club at Caymaanas Estates in St. Catherine, polo teams from around the island will compete in this annual event. It kicks off on February 23rd and the finals are on March 2.
  • Bob Marley Week
    Bob Marley Week has just ended but there is plenty of time to plan for next year. The birthday of Robert Nesta Marley, the world's most well known reggae superstar, is February 6th. To mark the occasion, during the first week of February, events take place at Bob Marley themed venues that were significant in his life.
  • Reggae Marathon
    You'll have to wait until early December for this annual race. 

Dominican Republic

  • Las Terrenas Marathon
    This annual event takes place on March 9th.

Nacho Figueras, Polo, Dominican RepublicThe Dominican Republic also has world class polo. I was fortunate enough to take in an event with Nacho Figueras, International Polo Player and Ralph Lauren Polo Model, when I was with a client for their President's Club a couple of months ago.

Barbados

  • Barbados Polo Open
    The Barbados polo open begins on March 13th and there are games every few days until the finals on March 27th.
