Throughout the year, people around the world celebrate independence and historical milestones with blockbuster events. With fireworks, music, dancing and parades, event planners can pick up ideas for corporate events, conferences, galas and special events.
Canada - Canada Day July 1
Fireworks, parades, celebrations on Ottawa's Parliament Hill, and special events throughout the country mark Canada day every year. In 2011, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge represented the Royal Family for Canada Day.
USA - Independence Day - July 4
Independence Day a tradition of patriotism
As the U.S. celebrates its July 4, 1776 independence from British rule with parades, concerts, social events and fireworks, it's important to remember that the U.S. has had its share of growing pains. As we watch nations around the world struggle in their quest for freedom, let's also remember this is a natural part of national evolution.
France - Bastille Day/La Fete Nationale - July 14
With various Paris events including marching by the troops, an air show and fireworks, the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789 is remembered every year on Bastille Day, France's national holiday.
Jamaica - Independence Day - August 6
Celebrations at the National Stadium in Kingston, dances, reggae concerts, parades, marching bands and fireworks mark Jamaica's 1962 independence from British rule. Jamaicans around the world join in the celebration with local events.
Jamaica Festival coincides with Independence Day celebrations. It features an annual song competition, an annual search for patriotic songs that was started in 1966. Singapore - National Day - August 9
National Day commemorates Singapore’s independence from the Federation of Malaysia on August 9, 1965.
Malaysia- Independence Day - August 31
Celebrations mark the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British rule on August 31, 1957. Malaysia Day on September 16 commemorates the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963.
