Dubai's peak October - April season started last week, and 8.8 millions visitors are projected for 2012.
In a record-setting volume, 27.9 million visitors have already passed through Dubai International Airport (DXB) during the first half of 2012.
So what's new in Dubai?
New International Connections
Emirates Airlines launched daily direct service from Washington, DC to Dubai on Boeing 777-300 ER aircrafts featuring 8 eight private First Class suites and 42 Business Class flatbed seats. Earlier this year, direct flights from Dallas, Houston, San Francisco and Seattle were added to Emirates' timetable. In late 2012, direct Emirates flights to Dubai from Adelaide, Australia, Lyon, France and Phuket, Thailand will commence .
Virgin Galactic is planning a Spaceport in nearby Abu Dhabi to which 1 hour flights from Spaceport America in New Mexico will be offered.
New for Corporate Events and Team Building
What's hot? The new 2012-2013 UAE Motorsport season has just started with automobile and motorcycle events at the Dubai Autodrome and Kartdrome. Corporate groups can get in on the action at the Race and Driving School.
New Dubai Hotels
Jumeirah Creekside, a 292-room hotel in the historical Dubai Creek area, opened in July. It offers 3 levels of function space with 26 meeting rooms and a ballroom accommodating 500 guests.
