In a few days, event planners and hospitality industry professionals from around the world will gather in Las Vegas for the 3rd annual IMEX America from Oct 15 - 17, 2013. As you plan your visit, you won't want to miss any of the exciting events and exhibits the organizers and exhibitors are lining up.
First some highlights. For 2013, hosted buyers and other MICE attendees can look forward to:
- over 2,500 exhibitors, representing a 17% increase in booth space
- 80 new exhibitors
- 11 new hotel groups
- 24 new destinations including Jordan, Hyderabad, the Bahamas and British Virgin Islands
Educational programs will include a full MPI Smart Monday line-up. In the afternoon, the Sustainability in Event Planning deep-dive will feature Gina Broel, Senior Planner, Microsoft; Paul Salinger, VP of Marketing, Oracle; Amy Spatrisano, Principal, MeetGreen; and Johanna Walsh.
Also on Monday, Security, Risk and Crisis Management will be presented by IAEE and IMEX America’s Association Focus will take place.
The opening keynote called Radical Resiliency will be delivered by Eileen McDargh, founder and CEO of The Resilient Spirit. On Wednesday, Jenn Lim, CEO and Chief Happiness Officer at Delivering Happiness, will present the Zappos Story. Devon Harris, Captain of the Jamaican bobsled team that inspired the movie Cool Runnings, will deliver an inspiring keynote on Thursday.
On the trade show floor, a 9-track education program with over 170 sessions will be presented at 5 locations. Formats will include 20-minute Lightening Learning Labs, 30-minute seminars, drop-in workshops and informal Campfires.
On Sunday, The CIC Hall of Leaders Gala will be co-locating with IMEX America for the first time. There will be a new Networking Hub and a Research Pod on the trade show floor. Clean the World will be presented throughout the show at a trade show booth.
At the Social Hub, a brand-new area on the trade show floor, there will be device charging stations, computers and Internet hotspots. The Social Media Team will use this area as a base for interviews and live tweets.

Time to Party
After busy days on the trade show floor, hosted buyers and MICE exhibitors will appreciate the opportunity to kick back and relax. Pre-show opportunities to connect include the Rock of Ages show on Sunday, and the MPI Buyer Reception and SITE Night North America on Monday.
The #eventprofs Tweet-up will take place at the Switzerland booth on Tuesday from 3:45 - 5:15. Tuesday evenings events will include the Fresh Reception, dinners for hosted buyers, and the London and Partners bash.
On Wednesday, the popular Euro Party is returning at the end of the day on the trade show floor and the MPI Foundation's Rendezvous party will take place at PURE nightclub that evening.
