On the Cvent Event Blog, I have frequently discussed the fact that trade shows like IMEX America are great places from which event planners can gain inspiration and ideas for their own events. They are also an ideal opportunity to discover new event venues. Here are some of the places that IMEX America hosted buyers and exhibitors have been discovering.
This year, the Cvent reception took place at a new venue at the Venetian. Think French bistro fare meets West Coast USA and you've captured the essence of Pinot Brasserie. There are a number of event spaces that can cater to groups ranging from 16 - 400. Guests enjoyed bite-sized hors d'oeuvres including crab claws, shrimp and a variety of sweets.
On Sunday, even before IMEX America officially began, Travel Alberta and Base Entertainment kicked off the week with an event at rock and roll-inspired Rockhouse Las Vegas that showcased all that is Alberta. The 80-in high definition TVs throughout the venue provided ample opportunities for imagery to reinforce branding. Refreshments served at self-serve stations and consisting of a taco bar, beef and chicken slider bar, mac and cheese provided an opportunity for guest to mix and mingle easily. The mechanical bull perfectly complimented the cowboy theme that appeared in a number of the images in projected in the videos that cycled throughout the event. With a capacity of 400, the venue lends itself to a number of themes.

IMEX America takes place during the week in which Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving. Two Canadian event industry professionals (Melanie Cook Director, Global Sales-Canada/International MGM Resorts International and Bettyanne Sherrer of ProPlan Conference Planners) came up with the idea of doing a Canadian Thanksgiving celebration for IMEX America attendees from Canada. They partnered with MGM Resorts International to execute it.
The room was beautifully decorated in hues of brown, red and yellow reminiscent of a Canadian autumn. The menu consisted of squash soup and a beautifully presented turkey dinner with all the trimmings,
Madame Tussauds provided the perfect venue for the Fresh Reception. Guests approached the venue on a mobile walkway. Upon entering the venue, surprisingly realistic wax figures were strategically placed around the venue. Celebrity wax figures included Oprah, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, James Brown, Madonna, and Joan Rivers. It was a light evening of mingling with healthy menu options. This informal setting provided an opportunity to mix mingle and find out about The Fresh Event that will be taking place in Copenhagen from January 24 - 26, 2014.
This 30,000-square-foot, 2-level venue can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.
Space does not permit me to cover all of the fabulous event venues that are making IMEX America such a memorable experience. Check back next week for part 2.
