For all of the event planners, exhibitors and speakers enroute to Frankfurt, IMEX 2015, opening on Tuesday, May 19th, promises to be bigger and better than ever.
There will be 55 news stands and over 4,000 hosted buyers this year. Exhibits from emerging destinations that you will want to check out include Azerbaijan, Ras al Khaimah, UAE, Sri Lanka, Gold Coast Ghana, and Bratislava, the capital of Slovania.
Japan will be unveiling its new branding at IMEX Frankfurt. 2015 is Singapore's 50th year as a nation. Expect a warm welcome at the Singapore Sling and Tiger Beer Happy Hour on Wednesday.
New venues that will be represented include Calabar ICC, Nigeria's new state of the art convention center, and JW Marriott Venice Resort and Spa. Truly unique venues to check out include Mustang Monument Wild Horse Eco-Resort, specializing in luxury American style safaris in Nevada, Sanctuary Retreats featuring luxury safari lodges in Africa and Burma, and Gosford House, a 5.000-acre estate in Scotland where groups can participate in clay pigeon shooting, rugby workshops, horse riding, and falconry.
SAP's CEO Bill McDermott, who delivered a keynote at the Cvent Meeting Summit last year, will deliver the opening keynote on Tuesday. On the tradeshow floor, the Inspiration Hub will feature 150 workshops with business skills, creative learning, sustainability, risk management and compliance; technology and social media, trends and research, and diversity tracks. Brand new this year, on Creative Thursday, exhibitors will offer interactive sessions to provide ideas to improve event design.
Guests arriving early or staying late, can take advantage of free guided tours of Frankfurt. I did it a couple of years ago and it was well worth it. This year the tour will include Sachsenhausen, where traditional apple wine is produced, the Kaiserdom (cathedral), historic Roemerberg, Palmengarten, and the Main Tower delivering panoramic views of the city.
CSR initiatives will include a charity cooking event on Association Meeting day (Monday) to benefit Lichtblick, the homeless shelter that is an IMEX legacy project.
This year there will be an emphasis on wellness through "Be Well at IMEX" initiatives. At the Inspiration Hub, the health and well being track will consist of 8 workshops. Throughout the show, attendees will be able to take advantage of the Meditation Room, a quiet space to decompress. On Wednesday attendees can stay fit with a 5K run from 7:00 - 8:30 sponsored by Rio de Janeiro, the location of the 2016 Olympics. A healthy Brazilian breakfast will be served at the end.
As usual, there will be no shortage of fun: SITE Night and Association Evening on Monday, The Fresh Dinner at NH Frankfurt City Center and cim-clubbing night at Gibson Club Frankfurt on Tuesday, and the IMEX Gala at Alte Oper on Wednesday.
This video is a good example of what event planners can do to prepare event or conference attendees for their experiences.
