Langkawi, a collection of 99 islands (during low tide, there are 104 islands) west of peninsular Malaysia, is an ideal destination for corporate teams seeking eco-tourism adventures without roughing it. Only 3 islands are inhabited: Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Tuba and Pulau Langkawi, the largest.
Shimmering lagoons, thick rainforests, mangroves, rice fields, hot springs, waterfalls, mountains peaks like Gunung Raya, and pristine beaches with powdery white sand create an unspoiled natural, environment. UNESCO has declared Langkawi as a World GeoPark.
Activities include jungle trekking, mangrove expeditions, fishing, mountain climbing, hiking and wind surfing. Places to visit include Gunung Mat Cincang - accessible via cable car; the 7-tier Telaga Tujuh Waterfall; and the Oriental Village for shopping.
Langkawi has luxurious and unique MICE accommodations that blend into the natural surroundings including The Datai Langkawi, The Andaman, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, and Tanjung Rhu Resort. Tanjung Sanctuary Langkawi is currently under extensive renovation and a new luxury resort will open on the same property.
Situated on 70 lush acres, Berjaya Langkawi Resort has 424 rooms and suites including rainforest chalets and suites, and premier chalets and presidential suites perched on stilts hovering over the water.
The largest conference center in Langkawi is the 71,400-square-meter Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) with a capacity of 3,000.
