Once again, House Hunter's International has inspired a blog post. I have been seeing Port Douglas online for some time now, as a couple of sites in that area show up for some of the same key word phrases as my company. Notwithstanding, until the House Hunter's International featured Port Douglas, I didn't realize that it is truly a slice of paradise.
Located on the coast in Queensland, Port Douglas' 4-mile beach is adjacent to the Coral Sea which is part of the Pacific Ocean.
Temperatures, which range from 70° - 82°F in this lush, tropical setting, peak during February, making it the perfect destination for companies in Europe and on the West Coast of the U.S. and Canada seeking to give top performers a break from frosty weather. Travel time from Los Angeles to Cairns Airport, 33 miles from Port Douglas, is about 17 hours, about the same time it takes to get to Paris.
In Port Douglas, corporate groups can enjoy trike tours, horse riding, kite surfing, paddleboarding, hot-air ballooning and, of course, a range of watersports. In nearby Cairns, groups can learn about the history of Australia at the Ancient Earth Indigenous Art Gallery and the Cairns museum which has an Aboriginal collection.
Port Douglas is home to 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. Consisting of 3,000 reef systems and hundreds of tropical islands and cays, The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef. Daintree Rainforest is the world's oldest living rainforest.
