By the on the last Friday in November, in time for the annual Candlelight Walk, Port Hope is transformed into the perfect setting for "an olde tyme Christmas". Residents and visitors are invited to bring their lanterns, sing carols, and stroll down the main street to Memorial Park. When the crowd has assembled, the lights are turned on for the festive season.
To warm up, head to The Candlelight Christmas General Store for refreshments. The holiday shopping season officially begins with a Moonlight Sale.
The next day, during the Santa Claus parade, which has taken place every year since 1937, donations are collected for the Fare Share Food Bank. Now that's a town with spirit.
