Where does inspiration come from? With temperatures climbing, I decided to profile another mountain destination where groups can cool off. Zugspitze, a location on the recent episode of The Bachelorette, was the logical choice.
To get to Zugspitze, board the cog wheel train to the Schneeferner glacier at Eibsee, Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Grainau. Then, take The Glacier Cable car the rest of the way, above the clouds to an altitude of almost 10,000 feet.
During the summer, groups can go sledding, on glacier hikes, paragliding or mountain climbing. There are climbs at various levels of difficulty as well as a Via Ferrata.
Enjoy lunch at Gipfelalm Alpine Summit Hut, the highest restaurant in Germany; Glaciergarden, a spectacular glass restaurant; Panorama-Lounge 2962; or SonnAlpin Glacier Restaurant.
When you are ready for your meeting, select from one SonnAlpin - Conference Center or SonnAlpin Blockhaus, a log cabin with seating for 173 and an Alpine terrace that can host receptions for up to 600.
Between the end of December and early April, spend the night in one of 20 igloos at Iglu-Dorf Igloo Village Zugspitze. Snowshoe and go star gazing before warming up in a hot tub and enjoying Swiss fondue for dinner.
Plush sleeping bags and sheepskins will keep your group warm and comfortable all night
The next morning, breakfast at Glaciergarden before skiing at the highest elevation in Germany. Non-skiers can go sledding, build igloos, explore the Zugspitz-Exhibition, or spend quiet moments of reflection at Maria Heimsuchung, the highest church in Germany.
