The International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO), comprised of more than 1,700 companies in 90 countries, including 400 specialist golf tour operators in 58 countries, announced its annual award winners recently at the Cornelia Diamond Hotel in Belek, Turkey at the International Golf Travel Market.

Every year the organization recognizes three of the world’s leading golf resorts along with one outstanding golf destination in each of the following five regions: Asia and Australasia, Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Gulf States, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

The winners of the 2012 IAGTO Awards are:

Golf Resort of the Year-North America: Turnberry Isle Resort Miami, Florida
Golf Resort of the Year-Europe: Fairmont St. Andrews, Scotland
Golf Resort of the Year-Rest of the World: Mission Hills Hainan, China
Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year: Bulgaria
Golf Destination of the Year-North America: Palm Springs, California
Golf Destination of the Year-Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Gulf States: Abu Dhabi
Golf Destination of the Year-Asia & Australasia: Pattaya, Thailand
Golf Destination of the Year-Europe: Fife, Scotland
Golf Destination of the Year-Latin America & the Caribbean: Los Cabos, Mexico
