This November, the concept of Restaurant Week debuts in Montreal. TASTE MTL, 11 days of gourmanderie sponsored by SAQ (a state-owned corporation responsible for the trade of alcoholic beverages), officially opens its reservation in early October. From November 1 to 11, close to 100 restaurants across Montreal will offer prix fixe menus at $19, $29 and $39.
Restaurant Week, which is enthusiastically celebrated in major North American cities such as New York, San Francisco and Vancouver, is a useful (as well as the most delicious) tool in the meeting planner's kit. For a substantial discount, planners can play "secret client," sampling the creativity of restaurants like Aix Cuisine du Terroir (pictured) to determine where their events should take place,
It's also a great way to experience Montreal. According to the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and CEO of Tourisme Montreal, “Montrealers like to eat out and the authenticity that goes hand in hand with a Montreal dining experience is indeed unique in North America. It’s an integral part of our city’s tourist offering and its appeal.”
“TASTE MTL provides an incredible opportunity for restaurateurs to 'democratize' their cuisine and share their passion. I hope that all get the chance to sample Montreal’s unique flavour during this inaugural edition,” adds Jerome Ferrer, celebrated chef of the Europea Group and a member of Tourisme Montreal’s Gastronomic Committee.
