Kimpton's latest boutique-style property, the 268-room Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, debuted October 4 in the City of Brotherly Love, just steps from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. The new hotel is second Kimpton, after the Hotel Palomar on Rittenhouse Square. The new 4 Star Monaco features 13,000 square feet of meeting space, including the 3,300-square-foot Lafayette ballroom (pictured) and a rooftop lounge. It can accommodate groups of up to 325.
The opening follows a $87.7-million rehabilitation project of the Lafayette Building that was originally built in 1907. This adaptive reuse preserves and utilizes the structure, giving new life to a historical building, which has already been the former of a bank and a brewery company.
For groups eager to delve into early American history, Independence Mall is a easy walk. There, groups can visit the Liberty Bell Center, the National Constitution Center and Independence Hall. And it is entirely possible that they may run into Benjamin Franklin.
