This summer I was wandering through a local arts festival in my hometown USA and spotted a purchase I couldn't live without. Alas, I didn't have any cash on me to square up with the vendor. Much to my surprise, the vendor whipped out her iPhone, which was connected to a mysterious contrapment, and announced that she was happy to take my credit card as payment! Right there, under a tent in the middle of a field full of homegrown specialties and handmade treasures, my credit card was being swiped.
It dawned on me a few weeks later how beneficial this device could be for event registration and payment. For a small credit card fee of less than a $1.00 per swipe, you could potentially use it to collect payments right at the door. This operation would be especially handy for those last-minute guests who show up unannounced without a check or cash on hand. And what about fundraisers? Fundraisers! Collect money on the spot.
How does it work? The apparatus plugs right into the bottom of your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Once the application has been downloaded, the transaction takes place with a simple swipe of their card. After swiping, amount is verified and tip can be added as an option as well.
