I recently blogged about hotels gearing up to use TelePresence to facilitate virtual meetings. Now, one of the first public TelePresence studios has officially debuted in Hong Kong at the JW Marriott. This is the first such studio to open in Asia, and the 6th in the Marriott Brand.
Having visited the JW Marriott Hong Kong, I can personally vouch for its modern conveniences and technological advances. Among them, the hotel features touch-screen elevator buttons, plasma televisions inside the elevators and bathrooms, sensory lighting in the guest rooms and electronic curtains. Consistent with their hotel-wide technology wonders, the opening of a TelePresence studio comes as no surprise to me.
Having already shared with you the benefits of these studios, I'll keep this brief. TelePresence enables small meetings to be held with people in multiple locations throughout the world in real time. AT&T and Cisco are the masterminds behind this "virtual boardroom." Using LCD screens in a boardroom atmosphere, colleagues and clients are connected.
The JW Marriott Hong Kong offers the ultimate business traveler experience. The lobby is spacious, featuring mulitple levels, complimentary wireless Internet and coffee, and lounge seating conducive to business negotiations, private discussions and the like -- not to mention the stunning views of the city and the harbor! This new technology is just one more addition to its impressive list of meeting-friendly amenities!
