What better way to show your guests your valued appreciation of their participation and/or attendance than by personalizing their experience? Hotel amenities, free "stuff", and giveaways are great too, but adding that personal touch will likely strike a cord with your guests. This will show that you've put thought into their experience and have taken the time to research their preferences. Do you know that the Ritz-Carlton hotel company has an entire database that tracks and records guest's personal preferences, interest, activities, birthdays, etc.? The key to their success lies in personalizing each and every experience. Imagine how successful you would be if you personalized each and every event?

Ok, I've been speaking in general terms, so let me give you some examples. Let's say you have clients flying in from around the country for a conference about your new product line. For each client, pick a gift to have waiting in their hotel room upon arrival that is themed from the city they flew in from, along with a card thanking them for flying all the way from City XYZ. Or maybe you're hosting a smaller event with a few executives with whom you've never met with but desperately need to impress. Take the time to send an email out to their assistant's inquiring about some of their interests so you have personal talking points to work with. How about employee gifts at your holiday party? Instead of ordering one choice gift in bulk, pick 3 items (100 + would be unrealistic) and gift them to the appropriate employees.

The list goes on and on, but these are just a few simple ways that you can go the extra mile without an extra budget.
