Calling all taste buds, this week is Restaurant Week in Washington, DC! For 7 days in a row, February 4th-10th, 240 participating restaurants in the metropolitan area are serving up 3-course meals for a bargain. With prix fixe lunch at at $20.13 and prix fixe dinner a mere $35.13, there is no better time to sample some of the finest cuisines in the city without breaking the bank.
If you're a local DC meeting planner, consider next week opportune for shopping around. Maybe you need ideas for your next corporate dine-around, a private space for an upcoming reception, or a special place to send your out-of-town VIP's? Capture the essence of each restaurant by sampling the featured menu items and scoping out the ambience. Just remember that restaurant week is a busy and out-of-the-ordinary time of year for participating venues, so the service may be altered or sacrificed to accommodate the masses. Keep an open mind and focus on the food.
Let's say you have Executives and/or travelers in the DC area next week. Keep them in the know regarding the popularity of restaurant week and assist with securing them reservations. They'll be impressed and appreciate for the heads up and the opportunity to savor the tastes of Washington.
A few of my favorites? You can't pass up Acadiana in Penn Quarter (a hot spot for private parties), Farmers Fishers Bakers at the Georgetown waterfront, newly re-opened, and Firefly DC, a rustic ambience like no other in town.
Reservations aren't mandatory, but certainly are recommended. The sooner, the better. Enjoy your feast, planners!
