Here are a few ideas to get you started:
• Community Project: Team-building activities that give back to the community leave a lasting reminder locally, but also lasting memories for your attendees. Whether it's pounding nails at a Habitat for Humanity home site, planting trees at a park, or working at a local soup kitchen, there are many ways to blend team-building and community service to create an amazing experience. Check with your local contacts (hotels, destination management company, or CVB) for suggestions.
• Silent Auction: Solicit artwork donations from local talent and incorporate a silent auction at your reception. You'll add a dash of flair and artistry to your surroundings, all while raising funds to benefit a local charity.
• Entertainment Swap: Find a local student music or dance group to perform at your event. Take the money you would have otherwise spent to hire talent and make a donation to a scholarship fund.
• Donate Surplus Food & Beverage: The attendance numbers are light and it looks like you won't make your guaranteed F&B minimums, but the property has already purchased food and you're obligated. Ask if they would be willing to donate excess food and beverage to a local charity, rather than returning it to inventory or discarding it.
