Chicago Marriott DowntownThe Chicago Marriott Downtown is taking an unusual approach to developing its property, unique from any other idea that has passed through the Chicago hotels scene in quite awhile. Located on Magnificent Mile, the downtown Chicago hotel has partnered with the Half Acre Brewery to produce honey on-site to produce a local beer.

Hotel staff has filled open space on the ninth-floor rooftop with bees - over 200,000 Italian five-striped honey bees, in fact. Having already produced over 200 pounds of honey, the hotel bar and Harvest Restaurant have been able to utilize this home grown product. The new partnership with Half Acre Brewery will use the honey that the bees have produced to brew into one of their local beers that is unique to the area. Guests can enjoy this fantastic beverage knowing that they are supporting the hotel as well as a local business.

Along with their rooftop hive attraction, the downtown Chicago Magnificent Mile Marriott property has about 60 Chicago meeting rooms totaling in about 65,000 square feet of function space. The largest space is the Grand Ballroom, with a maximum seating capacity of 2,200 guests.

When planning a green meeting, this new attraction at the Chicago Marriott is a unique highlight to entice guests to make headway on green initiatives. This is also a unique excursion for participants and gives them an opportunity to see how the Marriott brand is making efforts to connect to the local community.
