Mexico Meetings Network looked at LP's list to make the following recommendations for meeting planners with regard to group travel.
1. Barrancas del Cobre – or Copper Canyon

2. Espiritu Santo Island, Baja California

The UNESCO protected biosphere is located near La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, and a two-hour drive from Los Cabos, both great destinations for events, weddings and meetings.

After Mexico City, Merida has the second largest Historic Center in Mexico. Located in the state of Yucatan, Merida is famous for its beautiful baroque architecture, colorful buildings, and huge mansions, or haciendas.

Guanajuato is Mexico's capital of beautiful baroque architecture, a romantic and enchanting city that some say resembles an Italian village.
A short drive from Guanajuato is Leon, a colonial city that can hold events of up to 5,000 people in the Poliforum Leon Convention and Exhibition Center, making Guanajuato a perfect destination for pre and post events as well.

Located on Mexico’s dazzling Pacific coast, Mazatlan is not as well known as Acapulco, Cancun or Cabo, but no less beautiful.
7. Holbox Island, Quintana Roo

Located off of the coast of the state of Quintana Roo, two hours from Cancun, Holbox Island is the budget-traveler’s choice for snorkeling and scuba diving.

8. Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Riviera Maya

Established in 1986 as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this natural destination measures 1.3 million acres along the Mexican Caribbean coast. It is less than a two-hour drive from Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Sian Ka’an is a great option for pre and post event excursions after a convention or meeting in the Riviera Maya.
9. Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

In the state of Oaxaca, on the Pacific Coast, is the quaint beach destination Puerto Escondido, or “hidden port”. This fishing village has become the international surfer’s haven, with crashing waves, miles of coastline, and great places to wine and dine.
