When looking for a venue that will make a corporate cocktail party feel like a real "night on the town," locating a space that's just the right size and atmosphere for your group can be a challenge. A case in point: recently a client asked us to find a relatively new space with a hip, lounge-style vibe that could hold roughly 250 guests. They wanted a space that would feel intimate (but not over-stuffed), yet still have all the sponsor-friendly must-haves, such as VIP areas, staging and video screens, etc. Oh, and they also wanted a space near midtown so their out-of-town guests could get back to their uptown hotels easily.
Though it seemed like a bit of a tall order, we were able to locate a great spot on West 26th Street, La Pomme. Born four months ago, just in time for September 2009 Fashion Week, this hip, well-designed, 3,500-square-foot NYC event space features just about everything a planner must have, including:
• On-premises catering, for "one-stop shopping" convenience
• Coat check as well as gift storage, to help hide those goody bags till the end of the event
• An eight-by-100-foot-long projection wall that's perfect for running client videos, logos and imagery
• A retractable 14-foot movie screen, to use on its own or in addition to the projection wall
• A state-of-the-art sound system and DJs, to facilitate dancing on the banquettes if you're so inclined
• Wireless microphones and a stage for the requisite speeches
• A scent machine, great if your client is launching a fragrance or wants to scent the air with their favorite scents
• Snow machines, if your clients wishes to make a winter statement no matter what time of year it is
• An elevated VIP lounge, so your best guests can survey the crowd, or to use as a green room for special guests or speakers
With it all it has to offer, it's no surprise that this New York private event facility recently hosted clients such as MTV, US Weekly, Rolling Stone and Perry Ellis, to name a few.
